Polar Star

The M/V Polar Star is an excellent all-around vessel for crusing polar waters. In addition to being completely retrofitted and upgraded in 2000, the ship was orginally built for icebreaking, giving it a hull that is thicker and stronger than most ships used for trips to Antarctica and the Arctic. We like its 100-passenger capacity which is ideal for expedition cruising, allowing all passengers to go ashore together and offering a desirable passenger-to-leader ratio. Cabins on the Polar Star are comfortably appointed and provide occupants with ample room and a bright atmosphere. With the exception of Triple cabins which feature shared bathrooms, all cabins come with private bathrooms and large windows. All cabins offer plenty of room to stow your gear.

One of the ship’s most enjoyable features is its spacious aft-located lounge which is connected to an outside deck. With large windows on three sides, you can keep track of the action outside while warming up with coffee, tea or a cocktail. In addition to being a great area to socialize and relax, the lounge doubles as the ship’s lecture hall.

Running from bow to stern, the Polar Star’s outside decks are hard to beat. They offer passengers plenty of space to step outside and view scenery or set up camera tripods for Polar Star Librarysuperb photo opportunities.

Another excellent feature of the Polar Star was added during the 2000 retrofit: a mudroom. When returning to the ship from your shore excursions, you can leave your muddy boots and wet gear in the mudroom rather than having to find space for them in your cabin. Very convenient!

A favorite gathering place is the ship’s bridge which is open to passengers at most times. Here they can take in wonderful views of scenery and wildlife as well as enjoy seeing and learning about the ship’s navigation from the crew.

A well-stocked library and a forward lounge offer additional public spaces for relaxation and socializing and there is an exercise room for those who wish to work out.Polar Star Bridge
